To make my coupon binder, I gathered several items before starting.  I used:

We can talk about you making your binders (or if you want me to make them we can talk about that as well).  Below I am posting a video that you can watch (sorry about the talking guys...I was trying to record and talk at the same time!).  Let me know if you have any questions!

Since everyone wants messages on how I got out of CVS and Rite Aid for $2 & $4 here it is....

RiteAid and CVS are SO easy to get stuff FREE or almost free! You just gotta watch the coupons and match the ads up just right. I put the ads on the blog every week before they hit, Here's the break down of my trip this week.

I bought:
-Crest ProHealth Enamel Shield toothpaste with card $2.69, had a $0.75 off coupon, making it $2.06 with tax, they had a single check rebate on this item for $2.69 making it FREE in the end (you can do these online and request a check at the end of the month).

-Schick Hydro 5 razors with card $7.99, had 2 coupons for $4.00 off a piece, bought 2 of them, paid $4.23 for each razor after tax. Got $2.00 back in UP rewards for each one(these print on your receipt and you can use them like cash on your next purchase at Rite Aid)

-Glide Floss with card $3.99, had 2 coupons for $0.75 off, making them $3.43 a piece with tax. Got $1.50 UP rewards back for each one.

-Mitchem deodorant with card 2 for $7.00, had 2 $0.75 coupons, bought 2 of them, and I'll get $2.00 added to my single check rebate.

Now, I had $29.00 in UP rewards from my last trip to Rite Aid, so I used them, and you have to buy something that you don't have a coupon for, so I bought the M&M's, paid the $2.00 and boom...I was done. I got $7.00 back in UP rewards AND I have $6.00 still left from my previous trip...

Here's how I did it at CVS:

I had $18 of their rewards to spend from the last time I was there. They had the shampoo and conditioner on sale 3 for $10 and I had a $1.00 off coupon for all 4 bottles. So, they were $3.34/bottle minus my $1.00 coupon = $2.34 before tax.

-The razor was on sale for $6.99, there was a $3.00 coupon in the paper, making it $3.99 and I got $3.00 back in the reward $$

-The cereal was on sale 2 for $5.00 and I had a coupon for $1.00 off 3 boxes so, I got 2 boxes for $5.00 and another box for $2.50.

THEN because I had coupons for everything I had to throw the gum in and it was on sale for $2.50.

With taxes, my total out of my pocket was $4.98 :) And I got $5.00 in rewards to spend next time, plus $8.00 in CVS coupons to spend next time as well.

Does that make sense? Throw your questions at me!

Intro to Walgreens!

There’s no fun little club to join at Walgreens, they reward customers with Register Rewards (usually called RRs). These are Catalina coupons that print after you make a qualifying purchase. RRs are to be used like cash on your next order, which very well could be your VERY next transaction.

Sometimes it’s a coupon for $ off a particular item, sometimes it may be an advertisement for a current for future RR deal that wasn’t published in the ad.

How do I get these RR?

You must by the EXACT item advertised to get the RR to print. If you use a coupon on the item it should not affect if your RR prints. If you do not get a RR, that probably means the Catalina machine isn’t working properly. Ask the cashier to re-ring you on another register if you think you should have received a RR for your purchase.

If you have more than one RRs deal in one transaction, one reward for each RR should print. IF you want to purchase multiple identical items you need to have separate transactions.

How do I spend my RRs?

RRs usually say they cannot be used on alcohol, tobacco, tax, lottery tickets, money orders, stamps, dairy, gift cards, pre-paid cards. You can use your RRs like case on your next purchase with some exceptions. You can’t use more RR’s and manufacturer coupons than the number of items you are buying (coupon to item ratio).

Walgreens also has coupon booklets each month. They are by the weekly ads.

Why I LOVE CVS & Rite Aid

I recently discovered that shopping at Rite Aid and CVS could be more rewarding than Kroger or Meijer! Sure they double coupons, but they don’t give me rewards that I can spend on my next shopping trip!

Let me make you a believer!

Yesterday, at Rite Aid, I paid $53.67 for $97.85 retail value of stuff we will use! AND I got $29.00 back in UP+ rewards to use when I go back next week! This included two Pantene shampoos, two Pantene conditioners, two Fixodent denture cleansers (for my Mammie), two tubes of Crest toothpaste, two Colgate toothbrushes, Crest mouthwash, two Gillette Fusion razors that retail for $10.99, and two Jergens lotions. Also, I have built up a rebate check totaling $5.50 so far, after next week it will be almost $10.00!

Lets look at my CVS trip: I paid $33.76 for $86.89 retail value and received $18.00 back to spend on my next trip. At CVS I bought:  Dawn dish detergent, 4 tubes of Colgate toothpaste (2 were free), 6 toothbrushes, Pepto, a Gillette Proglide Fusion power razor, 4 Old Spice body washes (2 were free), and Mentos gum. I had a coupon for everything except the gum and Dawn.

I already have my next trip to Rite Aid planned and I will be paying NOTHING out of my pocket…that’s right NOTHING! Wanna see?

How to Shop at CVS

*You need an Extra Care Card! It’s FREE to sign up, you can do it online or in the store. You simply fill out a form with your name and address, maybe your birthday. Then you get your Extra Care Card that you will need to give to the cashier each time you check out at CVS. All sale prices and Extra Care Bucks (ECBs) require you to use your Extra Care Card. Only one card per household.

*When you buy advertised items, you earn ECBs that you can use on your next purchase. You can “roll” your ECBs so you can pay as little out of pocket as possible.

Please see This Blog for a complete break down on the CVS coupon policy and the coupons they accept. They have a GREAT breakdown!

Each week, I will post the ECB deals with any coupons that may be available this is an example of how that will look:

How to Coupon at Rite Aid

So I signed up for this Wellness+ Card, now what do I do with it???

There are a few ways to save money at Rite Aid: +Up Rewards, Single Check Rebates and Store Coupons.

+Up Rewards
Look for +Up Reward items throughout the weekly ad. When you scan your Wellness+ card, the Up Rewards will print on the end of your receipt and you can use them to buy another product in the store (this excludes prescriptions, tobacco, alcohol, etc). Make sure you keep track of when they expire and treat them just like cash.

Single Check Rebates:
Single Check Rebates or SCR is Rite Aid’s monthly rewards/rebate program. Just register here and you can immediately start participating. These change monthly; there are also times when there are deals available for certain time periods during the month. There is usually a little booklet of these in print right beside the weekly circular inside your Rite Aid store (at least they have them here).

As you make your purchases through the month, enter your receipt information on the website or keep your receipts in an envelope to submit them all at one time. At the end of the month, you can request your rebate check by clicking on “request rebate.” You can only make one submission per month, so make sure you are not planning to make any more rebate purchases that month!!!

Take note of limits for the items you expect to get rebates on. Some are limited to one item per household.

Also note the dates that the rebates are valid. Again, some rebates are valid for a week and not the whole month, some rebates may overlap a two month timeframe.

Try to use a coupon for an item that would be free after your rebate. You will still get the full purchase price back. You’ve just put money in your pocket!

Store Coupons at Rite Aid
One way to a coupon for money off of total purchase is by viewing the video values coupons. Just view 1-2 minute videos (the ones I’ve watch have been 30 seconds) advertising different products and you will get one of these coupons, plus extra coupons for the item commercials you just viewed. These are Rite-Aid coupons and can be combined with in-ad coupons and/or manufactured coupons. These are limited to one per customer. These are changed monthly and must be watched before a certain date monthly or you will lose your chance at that coupon.

Rite Aid produces its own coupons and releases them either in the weekly flyer or online. These can be stacked with manufacturer coupons. If you buy more than one item, you will need to clip the required number of store coupons from their ad, although some stores limit these to one per customer.

Also, with your Wellness+ Card, you’ll get these benefits:
You earn:
Earn 1 point for every dollar you spendon nonprescription purchases
Earn 25 points for every prescription you purchase
Here are the rewards you’ll get:
For every 125 points (up to 375) – one-time, 10% off shopping pass
500 points – 10% off all non-prescription points purchases everyday
500 points – free health screenings
1000 points – 20% off all non-prescription points purchases everyday
Here are some everyday benefits you’ll enjoy:
Members-only sale pricing throughout the store
10% of Rite-Aid brand products everyday
24/7 exclusive access to a pharmacist when you call 1-800-Riteaid

Couponing 101

Welcome to Couponing 101! Are you new to couponing and overwhelmed with ALL the information available to you? That's the great thing about the internet. We'll try to help make this easy for you! If you have questions, feel free to email us: bluegrasscouponqueens@gmail.com

Where do I find my coupons?

1. Newspapers
- Types of coupon inserts in paper – Smart Source (SS), Red Plum (RP), P&G, bonus issues like General Mills coupons.
- Watch the expiration dates, all the coupons in one insert won’t have the same expiration date!!
- Purchase a Sunday paper subscription (You can get multiple at home subscriptions)
- Remember both subscription and newsstand coupons are the same
- Buying paper in store…. remember not all stores charge the same price!
- If you are buying a paper in the store, check to see if it actually has the inserts in it that it is suppose to. It is so annoying to buy a paper, get home, and notice it is missing most of the inserts.
- Find a place online that sells full inserts or cut coupons. Also known as a coupon clipping service
- Buy the biggest city in your area’s paper. Usually the bigger cities have the better coupons.
- And make sure you save EVERY Coupon!!! You never know if the item might go on sale and you could get it FREE!

2. Printable Coupons
Usually you can print the printable coupons twice from the same computer.
Here are a few places you can find printable coupons. These sites do change their coupons monthly. Also, you don't have to just use your zip code for these coupons, change the zip code and the coupons that are available change! Make sure you print all the coupons you like before the month is over! They will expire 30 days from the date you print them:

- Visit the websites of your favorite brands. A lot of them will have printable coupons on their sites. Also make sure you sign up for their newsletters. They also email coupons out! I suggest making a separate email address to keep your personal inbox from being bombarded by all the newsletters.
-If you see a printable coupon you want, print it now! They go fast and you may miss your chance!
****DO NOT COPY A PRINTABLE COUPON!!!! THIS IS COUPON FRAUD****

3. Catalina coupons
- coupons that print out at the register when you purchase your coupons, they come from a separate machine usually located by your receipt

4. Peelies
- Peelies are coupons located on the front of products at the grocery store.
- Peelies are manufacturer coupons that can be used at every store.
- Should I remove Peelies? That’s your prerogative. Personally, I would leave them there for the person actually purchasing the item at that time, but that’s up to you.

5. Blinkies
- What is a blinkie coupon? This is a coupon that is located in the grocery store in small machines in front of products. It is okay to take a few of them.
- They change these coupons monthly.
***Note, I used to see these all the time, I don’t see them much anymore. I think Kroger still has a few…and I do mean FEW.

6. Tearpads and booklets
- What is a tearpad coupon? This is a coupon that is located on a pad or in a booklet in the grocery store. Tearpad coupons are coupons you literally tear from a pad.
- Make sure you pick up every free booklet at the store. You never know which one will have coupons!

7. Inside the products
- Always look for coupons inside the products before you throw them away! I found coupons on my Special K box the other day and I didn’t know they were there!

8. Write your favorite companies
- I have actually started this recently and I’ve been successful 2 out of 3 times. I wrote to Huggies because Callie can’t use Pampers, we’ve learned. They sent me an email back and I got an envelope full of coupons in the mail. THEN, I went to Nesquik’s website because I NEVER see coupons for Nesquik and Camden and Dave love them some chocolate milk. They emailed me a coupon in return. So it DOES work. I didn’t ask for coupons. I just sang a few praises to them and they gave me some coupons.

9. Free Samples
- A lot of times, free samples will also contain coupons for the full size product.

There are of course MANY more coupons available out there, these are just a few of the most popular and easiest to find.
